Adjusted Gate and Truck Reservation System Hours – Effective March 1, 2019

February 21, 2019

Port expansion and optimization continues at Virginia International Gateway (VIG) and Norfolk International Terminals (NIT).  We continually analyze and compare truck gate hours and PRO-PASS Truck Reservation System (TRS) mandatory hours with daily cargo volume trends at both terminals.  This ongoing analysis is designed to ensure that operating schedules adequately support demand, creating efficiencies for customers, partners and the port.

March 1 marks the one year anniversary of the initial PRO-PASS TRS deployment at NIT.  Over the last 12 months, TRS has steadily produced more efficient on-terminal experiences for our trucking partners.  We appreciate the community’s support in advancing this vital initiative.

Effective Friday, March 1, 2019, please be advised of the following changes to our operating schedule:

  • VIG’s inbound truck portal will CLOSE at 1700 hours, Monday – Friday
    • This creates alignment and consistency between VIG and NIT
  • PRO-PASS TRS mandatory hours will be extended until 1300 hours, Monday – Friday, at both VIG and NIT
    • NIT’s TRS mandatory hours will be from 0500 (gate opening) – 1300 hours, Monday – Friday
      • Open/unrestricted gate hours begin at 1300
    • VIG’s TRS mandatory hours will be from 0300 (gate opening)) – 1300 hours, Monday – Friday
      • Open/unrestricted gate hours begin at 1300
    • Both terminals remain fully TRS mandatory on Saturdays – 0700 – 1100 hours
