Forward momentum continues across the port. At Virginia International Gateway (VIG), significant gains in capacity and efficiency are being recognized as construction continues at a rapid rate.
As you know, the Navis N4 terminal operating system (TOS) will be deployed at VIG this weekend, May 11-13. This important milestone will create consistency across our three main container terminals, as NIT, PMT and VIG will employ a common TOS.
While we are taking great care to ensure that the deployment of N4 at VIG is seamless, there are two primary issues for port partners and customers to consider:
1 – Effective Saturday, May 12, 2018, VIG’s WebAccess portal will no longer be available. The PRO-PASS Truck Reservation System (TRS) will serve as the replacement platform to create reservations at VIG. The new VIG reservation system is scheduled to come online on Saturday morning, May 12.
Reservations for both NIT and VIG will now be made from your existing PRO-PASS account. When creating a reservation, a new drop-down menu will allow you to select either Norfolk International Terminals or Virginia International Gateway.
An announcement regarding the launch of mandatory reservations at VIG will be made in the coming weeks.
2 – Container tracking for NIT, PMT, RMT and VIG will be unified online as of May 12, 2018.
Today, tracking containers at VIG requires the use of a separate link. With the deployment of Navis N4 at VIG, a single link – http://track.portofvirginia.com – will enable you track containers across multiple terminals from one console.
When using http://track.portofvirginia.com to track container status, you will need to specify the location of your search by selecting the appropriate terminal tab at the top of the form. If the container(s) of interest is not located at the terminal you have selected, a separate option to search another terminal will appear at the bottom of the form.
