Memorial Day Weekend Operating Hours

Monday, May 28, is Memorial Day, a state and federal holiday.  As we approach the Memorial Day weekend, we want to honor the memories of our countrymen who made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure our freedom.  We also want to strike a balance between cargo accessibility and the hard work and long hours consistently invested by our partners and colleagues.

With these important considerations in mind, The Port of Virginia is pleased to announce the following operating schedule:

Friday, May 25

  • Business as usual – observing posted operating hours – at all port cargo terminals and administrative offices

Saturday, May 26

  • Business as usual – observing posted operating hours
    • 0700 OPEN1200 HARD STOP at NIT, PMT and the PPCY
    • 0600 OPEN – 1200 HARD STOP at VIG
  • Business as usual for all vessel and rail operations

Sunday, May 27

  • Truck gates CLOSED as per the standard operating plan
  • Business as usual for all vessel and rail operations

Monday, May 28 – Memorial Day

  • All Port of Virginia terminal truck gates CLOSED
  • Breakbulk/Out-of-Gauge/Container Freight Station operations – CLOSED at all terminals
  • Administrative offices, including the World Trade Center – CLOSED
  • Business as usual for all vessel and rail operations

Tuesday, May 29

  • Business as usual – observing posted operating hours – at all port cargo terminals and administrative offices
