Sarah McCoy serves as CEO and Executive Director of the Virginia Port Authority, leading one of the nation’s most advanced and strategically positioned trade gateways through a rapidly evolving global supply chain environment.
As CEO, Sarah oversees the port’s long-term strategic direction, infrastructure investments, operational modernization, and enterprise governance. Her leadership is focused on ensuring the Port of Virginia continues to expand capacity, strengthen reliability, and invest ahead of future trade demand to continue defining the next era of global commerce and fueling economic opportunity throughout the Commonwealth.
Since joining the Port of Virginia in 2014, Sarah has held leadership roles across government affairs, legal, and administration, including serving as General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer before being appointed CEO in May 2026. Her experience across the organization has shaped many of the port’s long-term infrastructure, operational, and strategic initiatives.
Sarah remains actively engaged across Hampton Roads and Virginia’s business community. She serves on the Board of Governors for the Virginia Opera, the Hampton Roads Global Commerce Council, and the Hope House Foundation Board. She has also been recognized as a Young Professionals ICON, one of Inside Business’s Women in Business, and among Virginia’s most influential women in law.
